Just added a recording i put together a while ago. The idea was it could be a 'transition' tune trailing off from the last album and introducing the new. I'm not sure if i'll actually use it now so thought i'd post it up to see what people think.

JOY. THE MACHINE.

So over the past couple days i've managed to finish up Emme Packers' new album.. 'Joy. The Machine.'

Having actually flown over to the states to perform with Emme and record this album (on a tedius portable 8 track i might add..) i've had a much bigger role and input on this album than the last one.. and have been given more freedom as to what i could add to her music.

So this time there is additional guitar, male vocals, bass, piano & rhodes, string arrangements & percussion. 3 of the songs are also collaborations whereby i wrote all the music and Em wrote the lyrics.

I think the album sounds great.. and is a fantastic leap from "Better Luck Next Time".

So i'm almost done with Emme's 3rd album. It's all sounding pretty good.. have been given the freedom to add a lot more this time round so there's basslines, glockenspiels.. rhodes.. cellos.. violins.. and even triangles! Should be good when it's all complete.

But after i've finished this i think it might be time to move on. I guess sometimes people can surpise you.. and things don't turn out how you'd hoped.

So anyway now.. I think i'd like to find new direction for my music. In the spare time i've had while travelling, i've written a few songs that each suggest a different route i could go down. I guess the only thing i can do is experiment and get as much feedback as i can. I'm liking the idea of lo-fi acoustic though. Perhaps rough sounding recordings with not quite in-tune guitars etc. hmm.

Hey everyone.

The tour with Emme Packer has now finished.. it was short but great. I'm now planning to stay here in the states a bit longer while we record Em's 3rd album! it's all sounding very good so far..

I added a picture of us playing a show in Washington i think it was..

When i get chance i will post my tour diary and loads of pictures on my journal, i'll let you know when!

Salmon's back..

Hey everyone! I'm back in sunny old England now. I had the time of my life in Australia, but it flew by. Now it's all starting to feel like a dream . I'm currently in the process of transferring all my photos on to http://spaces.msn.com/themarcsalmon which might take a while!! But hopefully soon you will be able to see what i was up to soon.

I hope everyone is well? Thanks for all the support while i was away by the way 70 albums out of 100 have been sold since the start which i'm very pleased with.

So what now?
Well.. it's an exciting time, at the end of this month i will be flying out to Utah to meet up with Emme Packer and do a tour around Utah, Idaho, Seattle and Portland!! And if everything goes well, we shall be flying down to Nashville to spend a couple of days in a studio with a Producer! I'm so excited. Hopefully before then I will finish recording a few new songs - need to finish writing them first though!


Anyways, mine and Emmes albums are still for sale. They are in very short supply right now though so make sure you order soon.. once they're gone, they're gone. Limited edition! haha.

I'm alive!! My journey around australia has been frikken awesome..but now it's coming to an end. only got another 5 weeks left to shoot down the east coast. Then got a month at home before flying over to the states to do a tour with Emme Packer!! Will have to meet up with some of you guys along the way!
